Shining Mountain Neighborhood Design Guidelines

Location: City of Boulder, CO | Completed: 2020

As part of the extended entitlement process for the new Shining Mountain Waldorf School campus, the municipality required a clearer vision for the residential portion of the master plan. Because these future residential lots would ultimately be sold to a separate developer, the design team needed a solution that provided direction without overcommitting to specific architectural outcomes.

To address this, Sopher Sparn developed Neighborhood Design Guidelines that met municipal expectations while maintaining the flexibility needed for future creativity and interpretation. These guidelines offer a thoughtful framework that balances regulatory clarity with design freedom, ensuring cohesive, high-quality development as the neighborhood evolves.
