Located in the Mapleton Hill historic district Highland Haven was a complete renovation of the existing American Foursquare vernacular house built in 1904. A new rear porch for outdoor living was added to the house, adjacent to multiple non-historic additions completed between 1992 and 2002. The project received various Landmark Alteration Certificates – a complex process that ensured the historic nature of the existing house was preserved, balancing old and new architectural design, while meeting the programming needs of the homeowner. Seeking to harmonize traditional architecture with modern-day functionality, the Highland Haven renovation captures the true essence of historic preservation. Working closely with some of the most skilled finish carpenters and a talented design team, every feature was executed with attention to detail, transforming the house into a cohesive work of elegance.
