We’re excited to welcome Michelle DeYoung to the team at Sopher Sparn Architects. Michelle joins us as Project Manager and Designer. She’s a great addition because of her creative eye, excellent project management organization and her positive vibe.
Michelle lives in Boulder with her fiance Chris (August wedding!) and her pup Snacks. Keep reading to find out what inspires her and other fun facts.

Education: Bachelor’s Syracuse University and Masters of Architecture from Boston Architectural College
Design Inspiration: “I studied abroad in Florence, Italy in 1999 in a Pre-Architecture program. During my semester in Florence, I was walking down a street where Michelangelo had designed some buildings…and I said to myself, ‘I was going to be an architect one day’.”
Hobbies: yoga, white water rafting, hiking, snowboarding, biking, running, concert going

Favorite Designs: Herzog & de Meuron (The Birds Nest) in Beijing and Shigeru Ban (Aspen Art Museum)
Why she loves being an architect: “Every day is a new and different day. Not one problem is the same or can be solved in the same way. It’s an outlet for me to express myself.”
